Security information sources

Every journey involves a certain amount of risk, but this can be minimised by informing yourself properly about local conditions and events. The websites listed below carry the most up-to-date reports that you will find while still at home.

You might also check the section on Countries in Conflict, and the security summaries for countries.

But remember, the best information is local information. So if you're going somewhere risky, make sure you talk to local people. Their news will be fresher and more in touch. And, as with any travelling, be ready to set aside whatever preconceptions you brought with you.
