Your questions on Traveller Insurance answered

What if I just want Single Trip Insurance?
If you only want insurance for your current trip you can contact your consultant and buy it at the same time as booking your travel. If you are booking online via our Web Reservations service you can add your request for insurance into the notes box at the same time as confirming your booking. For pricing details please click here.

Should I take insurance paperwork when I travel?
Yes. Carry your Insurance validation document, but leave a copy at home.

When does cover begin?
Cancellation cover starts the day your policy is paid for and issued and other cover from the departure date of each trip.

Does a trip have to begin in the UK?
Yes, if you are a UK resident. For overseas residents an additional questionnaire (available on request) needs to be completed, but cover starts in your country of residence.

What kind of travel does Traveller Insurance cover?
Any conventional travel and not just by air, including travel by car, train, boat, bicycle, on foot, or even in a rickshaw!

Am I covered for UK holidays?
Yes, you are covered even for a UK weekend break (with pre-booked accommodation for at least two consecutive nights). Medical cover is excluded.

What if I am 70 or over?
Sorry, we cannot offer you Annual Insurance, but we can offer you single trip insurance.

Is Insurance Tax in my premium?
Yes.

How do I claim?

Can I raise other queries before applying for Traveller Insurance?
Yes. Please call our Membership Support Department on 020-7838 5955.

Do I have to be a UK resident?
No, but overseas residents must complete a short questionnaire (available on request). Normally UK passport holders resident overseas pay 50% extra and non-UK passport holders resident overseas 100% extra.

Why does Traveller Insurance have Conditions, Warranties, Exclusions and Excesses?
All Travel Insurances have these to clearly outline the cover in force. Please read your Certificate of Insurance carefully and raise any queries with us. We do try to be very clear about exclusions and limitations - for example, an excess of £50 applies to most claims
(£250 in the case of legal expense claims - see Exclusions).

Is the Insurance suitable for a single parent?
Yes. Choose any policy and add any children you wish to insure.

Need I inform anyone when I travel?
No. The advantage is that you are automatically insured.

Is the Insurance suitable for a common law spouse?
Yes. We consider a spouse to be a married or common law partner (including gay couples).

Are there restrictions on children and infants?
No. Children’s names and ages (under 19 years old) must be entered on the Application Form and children will be insured if travelling with an insured parent, or to meet an insured parent.

Do I pay a premium for infants?
No. Children under 19 years old including infants are insured FREE.

Does 2005 Insurance cover me in 2006?
Yes. Cover is for 12 months from the commencement date when we issue your Certificate.

Can hazardous activities be insured?
Yes. Let us have full details of what you intend to do and we will assess the risk and decide if an extra premium is needed (e.g. for whitewater rafting and paragliding). Many activities can be insured without extra cost (e.g. hiking, snorkelling, sailing, golf, horse riding, windsurfing, skiing and recreational scuba diving to a maximum depth of 40 metres). If in doubt, contact our insurance brokers:
Campbell Irvine Limited, Alma House, Alma Road, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 0DB.
Tel: 01737 223687, Fax: 01737 224564.

Is Insurance only valid for travel booked through WEXAS?
No. Travel booked anywhere is covered.

Will my Insurance automatically be renewed?
Yes, automatic renewal assists most members. Fill in the credit/Visa debit/charge card mandate and we will contact you shortly before renewal with details of cover and premiums. Unless you tell us to the contrary, we will then use your mandate to renew your Insurance, taking the worry out of having to remember to renew each year

Do I need to take out baggage and money cover?
Many household insurance policies cover baggage. If this is the case for you, you can take advantage of a £15 discount per policy for all premiums if you do not require the baggage and money sections of the policy.

Am I covered for a terrorist attack?
Yes, under the medical, personal accident and baggage section, as long as biological, chemical or nuclear devices are not used.

Can I postdate my application?
For added convenience you can postdate your commencement date until later in the year when you are planning to travel or your current policy is due to expire.
